July Boxycharm

I’ve been getting Boxycharm for quite some time, and honestly, I’m a little on the fence about continuing with it or not. Sometimes I get some really amazing products, like OFRA Rodeo Drive Highlight and a Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion, but often we get products from companies that I’ve never heard of, or that are Boxycharm exclusives.

The subscription is $21 a month and you receive 5-6 full size items. That’s definitely a great deal, but it’s a lot to spend if you get a bunch of duds.

I’m actually really happy with this month’s box. Here is what I got:

First off, this beautiful eyeshadow palette from Blinc. I haven’t used it yet, but the swatches are very promising! The palettes I’ve received in the past from Boxycharm were not that great, but I’m a sucker for creamy, pigmented shimmer shadows, so this one is a winner.

This retails for $45

Next item is a Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in the shade Notion. I rarely wear lipstick, but I am trying to feel more comfortable with it. I have been wearing a lot of nudes, and this one is very vampy. I’m going to hold on to it until I feel ready for such a bold lip.

This retails for $6

This eyebrow pencil from WinkyLux seems to be a decent shade for me. I like that the product is stiff and not too creamy so it should do a decent job creating “hair like” strokes on my brows.

This retails for $12

I’m not sure yet how I feel about this next product. It is the Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo by Bare Minerals. The matte side should be ok for setting my under my eyes, but I usually use a loose powder for that. The shimmer side, however, would look really nice as a subtle highlight for minimal makeup days.

This retails for $32

Lastly, we have a setting spray by Project Beauty. Looking at the ingredients, it seems to be more of a misting spray than one that is meant to make your makeup last longer, as it doesn’t contain alcohol. I like these to set my powder products so they melt into the skin rather than have them sit on top and look powdery. I have combo/oily skin, but for some reason, powders really appear dry on me. The sprayer on it is decent so this may be a good one.

This retails for $32

I’m pretty happy with this month’s box. And the total retail Value is $127. Not bad for a $21 box
