I can never wear nail polish. I mean, like Never! Ok well, I can wear it, but in two or sometimes less days, it is chipped to all heck and needs to come off.
I’ve tried so many techniques such as base coats, top coats, base coats with top coats, different “long wearing” formulas, expensive and inexpensive brands, and so on. For some reason, nail polish does not want to be my friend. So basically I had given up and said “Fine! I don’t want to be your friend anyway!”
Until I discovered Essie Gel Couture. Tati Westbrook talked about it in one of her videos and it looked promising. It is supposed to be a gel-like polish, but without the light and million steps involved with a typical gel polish. I had tried and failed at trying other nail polishes that were supposed to be like a gel without lamp, but something about this sounded intriguing and I wanted to give it a try.
This is a 2 step process, but it’s simple and easy. You choose a color, and buy the top coat that it comes with. These will run you about $11-$12 each, but I was willing to invest and see if for once I could find something that would work for me.
- Gel-like perfection in an easy 2-step system.
- Up to 14 days of luxurious wear and instant gel-like shine. no UV lamp needed.
To my surprise, not only did the nail polish last on my nails for longer than two days, but it lasted a week! No joke. I couldn’t even believe it. I continued using it and have bought more colors. I’m hooked! Some weeks I need to take it off after about 5 days, and sometimes I will just do minor touch ups and get more than a week. It is just so exciting to me that I can wear nail polish again.
In addition to the long wear time, it has such a beautiful glossy finish that truly does resemble a gel manicure, and they have an amazing color range. It removes like regular nail polish, so there is no need to soak your nails in acetone. The top coat lasts quite a while since you use only one coat of that to the two coats of color, so at least you don’t need to repurchase it often.
This is for sure a winner for me. I would recommend it to anyone who has the same problems with nail polish that I have had, or to anyone who just wants a beautiful long wearing nail polish.
