I decided to share a bit of my makeup stash, as well as my thoughts on the products themselves. I’m going to be doing this as a series not parts of my makeup collection, starting off with my mascaras.
Loreal Lash Paradise– Ok this can’t come as a surprise to anyone who follows beauty gurus or beauty blogs, but honestly, this mascara is insane! Not only does it leave your lashes beautifully fuller and volumized, but it adds the length and drama also. I reach for this one most every day because I know it will give my lashes the look I want. The best part, it’s drugstore, so it won’t set you back more than $10 or so. I’m hooked for sure.
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes– This is my favorite high end mascara that I have tried. I think that what I like most is the formula. It’s not overly wet so it dries quickly and doesn’t transfer to my lids or undereyes. It coats my lashes and seperates them for a less dramatic, but they still look full and beautiful. I have bought this a couple of times and actually just received a mini one in my ipsy bag!
Maybelline Volum’ Express the Falsies– Before I got into makeup the way I am now, this was certainly my favorite mascara. Maybelline makes an abundant variety of mascaras, and most of them really are great. They are also very affordable, being at about a mid range price for drugstore makeup. I honestly don’t reach for this one anymore, but I know that I loved it, and probably still would if I put it back into my rotation.
Now we will talk about my least favorite:
Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof– I’m so sorry!! I honestly do not like this mascara at all. Maybe it just doesn’t work for me, but the internet seems to be obsessed with this and I can’t understand why. The main issue that I have with this mascara is that it transfers like crazy on me. I bought the waterproof one thinking that it wouldn’t be a problem, but it never fails to end up on my undereyes making me look like a raccoon. I just can’t get on board with this one unfortunately.
These next ones I don’t have strong opinions on, but will share my thoughts:
Maybelline Colossal Big Shot– Again, I don’t understand the hype around this mascara. I don’t have a problem with it, and it performs fine, but to me it is nothing special. Maybe it’s because I like to have big, beautiful, full lashes and I don’t ware false ones. This just coats my lashes, but doesn’t add anything special that makes them stand out. Still a good mascara for the price, but it doesn’t wow me.
Maybelline Colossal– I haven’t used this mascara in forever, so I honestly don’t remember how it performed. I would imagine it is similar to the big shot, but it is not something that stood out to me enough to really have an impact.
Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme– I got this free with an Estee Lauder purchase, and it’s pretty good. It does add length and volume, which is great, but I don’t personally think it is worth the cost compared to the less expensive alternatives. I do love small mascaras like this to throw in my bag if I will be traveling, so it has come in handy for me.
UD Perversion– Sorry, but I have only used this once and so I can’t give enough feedback on this to make it worth it. I did take note that it did not transfer, thank goodness. That is my biggest pet peeve with makeup! I plan to use this more, but I have too many mascaras and I tend to always gravitate toward my beloved Loreal.
Benefit They’re Real Tinted Primer– I think lash primers are a great concept for those wanting thicker lashes, but I just prefer to find a mascara that gives me the fuller lashes without the extra step. I did use this a few times and did notice a slight difference, so it does do what it is supposed to do. Maybe it would make sense for me to pair this with something like the Big Shot since that doesn’t seem to give me the volume that I am looking for.
Thank you for checking out my mascara collection. Watch for the next category of my makeup collection in this series.
